Red fall was a flop

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog where I share my honest opinions on the latest games. Today I want to talk about why Redfall, the highly anticipated open-world co-op shooter from Bethesda, was a huge disappointment for me and many other gamers.

First of all, let me say that I was really hyped for this game when it was announced at E3 2021. The trailer looked amazing, with a diverse cast of characters, a unique setting of a Massachusetts island overrun by vampires, and a promise of dynamic gameplay with different weapons, abilities and strategies. I pre-ordered the game as soon as it was available and waited patiently for its release in 2023.

However, when I finally got to play it, I was shocked by how bad it was. The game was full of bugs and glitches, from enemies getting stuck in walls, to quests not triggering properly, to characters losing their voices or animations. The graphics were also subpar, with bland textures, low-resolution models and poor lighting effects. The game looked nothing like the trailer or the screenshots.

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has addressed the significant negative response to Redfall, the co-op vampire slaying FPS that recently launched to a large number of negative reviews and player disappointment.

Talking to the Kinda Funny Xcast, Spencer said that he is “upset with myself” and that he’s “gonna take full responsibility for launching a game that needs to be great.” While he acknowledged the disappointment that comes from a $70 game arriving in the condition Redfall has, he also offered support for the game’s developers, Arkane Austin, noting that he will not “push against the creative aspirations of our teams.”

But the worst part was the gameplay itself. The game was supposed to be a co-op shooter, where you could team up with up to three other players and explore the island together, fighting vampires and other enemies along the way. But the game felt more like a single-player game with bots. The AI companions were useless, often running into danger or getting killed easily. The enemies were also boring and repetitive, with no variety or challenge. The combat was dull and uninspired, with no sense of impact or feedback.

The game also lacked any meaningful story or progression. The main quest was vague and confusing, with no clear goal or direction. The side quests were generic and tedious, with no rewards or consequences. The characters were shallow and cliché, with no personality or development. The game felt like a chore rather than a fun experience.

I regret buying this game and wasting my time and money on it. I wish I could get  an apology from Bethesda for releasing such a low-quality product. Redfall was supposed to be one of the best games of 2023, but instead it was one of the worst. It was a fail on every level.
